How do I disconnect this?
How do I disconnect/remove the the wiring harness that goes through the passenger fender-well on an '82 Z28?
Before I try anything and break the retaining tabs, I'm looking for the correct method. It looks like I need to bend back the tabs on either side and then there are two additional tabs on the bottom that need to be squeezed together. I don't see how I do all four at once. Or maybe the the black and gray parts aren't supposed to come apart?
Pics attached. First one is the connector itself, showing what appear to be the two halves that come apart. The second pic is the bottom of the connector.
I'm sure there's something I'm missing. Any guidance is appreciated.

Looks to me like you bend back the black tabs and the grey inner tabs in the middle and it should pry out. Is that a screw hole at the top of the first pic?

I agree -- that's what it looks like, but I really want to know for sure before I start trying to pry the pieces apart. There doesn't appear to be a screw in that top hole. I though the same thing.

Re: How do I disconnect this?
It's actually a pass-through, not a plug.
You need to unplug the other end of the harness from the ECM and the dash harness, then feed the harness out through the firewall. There should be a screw that passes through this into the firewall, then there's usually some form of sealer that requires some prying and sometime heat to get it to let go, though in later years the sealer was a lot less or not used at all.

Yes the screw has to be removed first then the light gray tabs in the middle of the black piece must be squezed together and the outer tabs loosened and it comes apart. Be careful of the gasket since that helps keep it dry.

Re: How do I disconnect this?
The entire assembly as one piece comes out of the firewall. It is clipped into the firewall, and will not separate until it is removed from the firewall. It is unnecessary to separate the black and grey plastic pieces.

Guys - just to be clear, this is not a firewall connector. It is located on the inner passenger side fender. The entire assembly does wiggle a bit so it does seem that it is clipped from the inside somehow. Will take a look.

Same style pass-through, whether in the firewall, or the kick panel area, I actually forgot that the F-bodies had this pass-through in that area, most GM cars of the time, it was in the firewall.

You just use a big flathead screwdriver to push the big tab that retains it in the hole down and then push it out towards the outside of the car.
