blew ACC fuse now problems, help?

i blew my acc fuse and then my battery gauge dropped from about 13-14 to around 10 or so, car still turns on fine and everything after i replaced the fuse but now my when i put my turn signals on the tach jumps with the signal (tach never worked either way) but it didnt used to do that and my battery is still at around 10? ive driven it around waiting for the battery to recharge but its stayed the same. once again not a big problem just kind of annoying.
do you guys think its the gauge or the battery?
its a 92 camaro
thanks in advance

Re: blew ACC fuse now problems, help?

Blown accessory fuse is often related to the cigarette lighter gone bad.
At least that's what they told me here.
I replaced my cig-lighter socket, and the acc-fuse problem went away.

The bouncing gauges are likely another problem altogether.

As for your dead battery, how old was the battery?

Why do you think your alternator is the culprit for the dead battery?

Dash Lash

You can use an external voltmeter to verify or disprove the reading on the dash meter.

It sounds like there is a bad ground at the dash.

They travel from the back of the dash to ‘Convenience Center’ bracket.

The Convenience Center is located behind the knee bolster.

The Convenience Center contains a flasher among other parts
(just to help you identify it).

@W.E.G: i know its not the battery cause its only about 2-3 months old and i already got the alternator tested and it failed. got it tested twice.

@NINA: ive taken apart my dash many times looking for bad grounds and loose wires and never found any. i remember finding a cut ground wire but i never found the other end of it. my guess is that that was probly for the tach. thanks anyway ill look again

Re: blew ACC fuse now problems, help?

OK.

I'm learning too.

How is the failed alternator related to blowing the accessory fuse?

I'm having a hard time envisioning how a blown accessory fuse can be related to anything other than a short in the accessory circuit. Unless you have add-ons wired into that circuit, what else is it going to be OTHER than the cigarette lighter?

The socket is the part that takes all the abuse, and is likely the point of failure.
Try unplugging the cig-lighter socket from harness-clip, and see if it still blows fuses.

(after you fix the kaput alternator)

Re: blew ACC fuse now problems, help?

it turned out to be a big coincidence that my alternator failed after my ACC fuse blew. the problem i was having with the fuse was that when the fuse blew my gauges were off and i was wondering in my original post if you guys thought it was my gauge or the battery was actually low. before the fuse blew battery was 13-14V and after it was arount 9-10V the next time i drove the car is died on me half way home (lights dimmed gauges went dim and so on) had to jump the car twice to get it like 2miles all the way home. the thing is tho i had already driven like 15 miles that day and the volt gauge always read about 9-10 and didnt change till on my way home when it died. long story i know

Sounds to me that your alternator is not charging ..i would do what was already suggested and check ur voltage coming out ur alt. The alt could also send some spikes out and fry fuses..
