engine wiring, plug replacement
Ok so, I want to clean up my engine bay, smooth the firewall and fenders etc, the big question comes in the form of that massive nasty plug in front of the drivers side.
I want to move the majority of the wiring inside the fenders, then through into the dash, and was wondering about using a cannon plug as a disconnect harness between the engine and the fender, with some wire sleeve protecting and beautifying the wires themselves.
what do you guys think?
the plug
the sleeves (an example not the actual stuff)
I am thinking about this because the plugs I already have, and they screw down nice and tight, are water proof and vibration proof (usually used for aircraft electronics)

So, after talking to few people, (my AME instructors mostly) The cannon plugs will work as long as the voltage of the harness being replaced isn't too high
What normally flows through these systems?

I dont see a problem as long as you move the right wires on either side of the plug so it works. And if the plug has enough pins for all the wires that need moved. Seems like a pita job but to each his own.
Most voltage i have seen is 12 volts thru the harness wires. Basically battery power. Most sensors are 0-5v.

Re: engine wiring, plug replacement
The max voltage seen of any wire in the car will be just under 15v
The large power wires in the C100 carry up to 40amps which is beyond the max of those MIL spec connectors pictured

Re: engine wiring, plug replacement
by c100 this refers to the plug correct?
However that was merely a example connector, I am sure that i would be able find a properly rated cannon plug, maybe from a 727 or other large jet.
