Dash lights on a Berlinetta

Hi all.
We have a 1984 Berlinetta, with the electronic dash.
The prob we have is, dashboard lights, guages etc work well, but as soon as you turn to headlights on, all lights and display numbers (speedo) go off.
If you turn the headlights off, all speedo/tacho lights come back on.
This does make it rather difficult when driving at night.
Any help or answers would be sooo awesome.

And yes, we are Aussies, so if anyone else is from down under and has a Berlinetta, we would love to hear from you.

Regards
Matt and Bec

The Next Dim Mention

Using a voltmeter or test light (the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) probe the dark green wire with the White stripe going to the dimmer wheel.

When you rotate the wheel back and forth — what happens on the meter or test light?

Then probe the
brown wire.

When you rotate the wheel back and forth — what happens on the meter or test light?

Then probe the probe the plain
dark green wire.

Happy Racing!

Re: Dash lights on a Berlinetta

Nina..... Thanks heaps for your info.

Gave me a starting point.
Found that the dimmer wheel was faulty and causing a short.
As trying to locate a dimmer wheel in Oz would be like finding hens with teeth, I removed to wires to the dimmer wheel and terminated the together.
This now allows the dash to work with lights on, even slightly dimming when turning them on.

Thank you again for your info.

Cheers

Matt
