Alternator asleep?
I have been researching the forum and doing diagnostics for 2 days and can't figure it out. Alternator not charging battery. 88 GTA with engine swap to carb, however, I don't think that matters. Alternator died last weekend and since then...
1. New battery.
2. Alternator rebuilt at alternator shop. (Upgraded to 220 amp...big stereo)
3. All fuses ok.
4. Belt tight.
5. +12v at battery lug on alternator.
6. "P" empty on alternator connector.
7. "L" (brown wire) tests -.007 mv in run when connected but voltage gauge works.
8. "F" (beige/white) +12v in run position.
9. "S" (10 ga. red) +12v.
Called alternator shop and they assured me they tested after rebuild and was fine. Not thinking fusible link because +12 at battery lug and "S". Car starts and runs fine. Anyone have a clue? Thanks in advance for any help.
