electric cooling fan

hey guys, i have a 92 RS 305. i dont know what happened but at some point the fan relay must have went out, so the guy who owned it before me wired the fan straight to the ignition. i don't know how he did it but there was a bald spot on the power wire for the fan, and a wire wrapped around that and routed into the cabin somewhere, still havent found where it goes. ALSO, a few years ago that stopped working as well, i have no idea what happened to it but right now i have i piece of subwoofer wire straight from that bald spot on the power line to the battery. i'm pretty sure my fan motor is just about burnt out because of it too.

i just recently bought an electronic fan control module, complete with an adjustment from 32 degrees to like 300. i came with one of those prongs to go into the radiator and a 16 foot wire.

when it comes to electrical and wiring, i couldn't be more retarded. where should i wire this thing to and how should i wire it? it came with a diagram but i'm still pretty lost (a lost cause when it comes to electrical stuff).

a buddy of mine recommended wiring it to the cigar lighter since it is always hot. any other recommendations?

i don't. that's the thing is i don't know how it was wired up. here is a link to how it is SUPPOSED to be wired up.

like i was saying the way it was wired when i bought it, was to the ignition somehow, so when you turned the key it came on and stayed on until you shut it off.

here is a link to the diagram for the control module

I was asking about the new control unit ; we know how your car is supposed to be wired.

1st thing I would do is establish if the OP used the original fan relay or if it is still even in the car.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...lp-me-fan.html

there are many ways of butchering the fan wiring

Is preferable to have the thermo switch control a relay instead of the power wire to the fan itself
