Blinkers not working right

Since the main subject of discussion in my column swap thread is resolved, I thought I'd move the issue I found into a different thread.

Alight, I swapped the radio control column out of the GTA for a non radio control one because someone wanted it. And it didn't cost me anything, in fact I made money. So, swap done, VATS bypassed, and now, I have a turn signal problem.

Here is how it works. Right signal works fine front and rear. Left signal stays on constant, in the back, and doesn't come on at all in the front, I swapped bulbs and had the same result. I haven't tried the side marker bulbs yet, but since it all worked perfectly prior to the column swap, I have no reason to believe the bulbs are the culprit. Hazards work on all corners except for the left front.

Parking lights work and the bulb comes on. I found this thread....

Where the OP seems to have an identical problem. He said he cleaned up the cam in the column and it worked. That could be one solution, or the MF switch is dirty and corroded (possible but not sure), the stalk would be another, or it could be that bulb, but usually if the bulb is out, the signal stays on constant and the indicator on the dash stays on constant. The indicator on the dash for left signal doesn't come on at all leading me to believe the problem is in the column.

First question I have is, where are the cams in the column? I know the wheel has to come off. But beyond that I'm not sure. Photos would help. Second, anyone else have any input on how to fix this? I can drive the car legally as far as I know if I stick my hand out the window for left turns. However, with all the idiots on the road, and the ******* cops who could give me crap for it despite being legal, I'd rather just fix this. Thanks for any input.

Blinkers Not Working Right - I Mean Left

First check all bulbs, even if new, to make sure they are the correct type, and installed correctly.

A common mistake is people installing 2 filament bulbs 180° rotated.

Some crazy symptoms have been reported doing that.

Now if they’re OK, put the key in RUN, turn signal stalk in the left turn position, use a voltmeter or test light
(the type for testing for voltage, not a continuity tester) to probe the light blue wire at the turn signal switch.

Is there power there?

If not, replace the switch.

If there is power there, make sure it gets in and out of the connector located near the lower right of the steering column.

Then make sure power gets in and out of the large connector located near the left front of the dash below the relay bracket.

From there it goes to the lamp on the front of the car.

Happy Racing!
