Sticky speedo
Sticky speedo
My speedo sticks at 50, looks to be of the electronic kind. Anyone experienced this? Wondering if it's the speedo itself or something else causing it. '88 Firebird.

Re: Sticky speedo
Could be the motor itself in the cluster, or it could be the needle hanging up which happens sometimes even though its hard to see, the slightest shift can cause that. However if you haven't messed with the needles I would rule that out. Or it could be the speed sensor, but you should throw a code if it were that, by process of elimination I'd say its the electic motor that spins the needle
Re: Sticky speedo
Thank you for the follow-up, i'll check the codes see if any were thrown. I have a replacement cluster, so at some point will see about switching out the speedo.
Re: Sticky speedo
Quick follow-up since I never posted the resolution. Basically it was a bad Speedo, the needle was sticking. I got a replacement cluster from Ebay and swapped the speedo's. That solved the issue.
