1989 GTA Fog light Freak Show
SO I just bought a 1989 GTA and I backed out of the driveway tonight to move my 87 GTA out and I observed my fog lights on the 89 go out, then come back on, then go out again. What would cause that?! The interior switch was aluminated and pressing it on or off didn't get them to come back on. Any suggestions? My guess is a relay and read in the forums past posts it could be located under the hood or dash,?

It sounds most like a loose wire or poor connection to me. I would start by cleaning up every contact point in the circuit by plugging/unplugging all of the connections, and taking apart all of the grounds, cleaning them up, and re-attaching. If this doesn't help, it's time to start probing with a test light or multimeter. I'd probably start at the output of the fog light switch and start working toward the direction of the problem (i.e. if it's ok at the output of the switch, work toward the fog lights. If it's erratic at the output of the switch, work your way toward the battery). This will help you find the source of the problem.

I also noticed the two side front fender marker lights don't work. The bulbs were blown but new ones didn't make them work either. *NOTE the new bulbs did NOT blow out once in.

Re: 1989 GTA Fog light Freak Show
I notice the headlights brighten and dim off and on when they first come on for about 10 minutes. I also discovered when I turn the right side blinker on, the lower right fog light blinks with the front drive light (instead of right fender light) and both the fog light will go out once that turn signal flashes. If I turn the headlights off and turn back on, sometimes I can get the fog lights back on but they go off as soon as I signal right again. I bought a new fog lamp relay but cannot figure out where it is located under the hood and all the threads I read had mentioned many different locations and no photos of the part or location for an 89 GTA. Does anyone have any suggestions for this weird issue?

Ck and clean your grounds at the battery to the body and at the fire wall.
CB your alternator ?? does the voltage gauge move radically/surge ?
Voltage regulator inside the alt possibly, causes head lights to flicker.
Just throwing stuff out there, but if its just lights acting weird, then it maybe a loose wire in that vicinity

I will check the alternator out. I notice when the car is cold, everyone I turn on the right blinker the horn honks. Kind of annoying, but it stops doing it after awhile. I did swap steering wheels with my 87 GTA but don't see how that would make it do that. It didn't do it before the swap so what should I be looking for?

The problem must be a hair away from not being a problem due to the fact it happens when cold only.
You would have to do some disassembly at the column and inspect the path of that black wire, then move or reroute it away from the Signal Switch and ground.
