weird light and blinker problem..
Hello all, Ive been putting my 85 t/a back together and..I encountered a strange electrical issue.
With my lights shut off, the brake lights work, turn signals work (just replaced turn signal bulbs two hours ago), yet I turn the headlights on, the headlights work, tail lights work, brights work, brake lights work, right turn signal works, but the left doesn't. The running light on the pass side doesn't turn on, but the drivers side one does. Turn the lights off, and all signals work again.
All of my wut?

Would there be a way to wire a separate circuit for just my headlights on a dip switch? Then I could just leave the factory headlight switch always off, blinkers would always work..etc.

First check all bulbs, even tho new, to make sure they are the correct type, and installed correctly.
A common mistake is people installing 2 filament bulbs 180° rotated.
Some crazy symptoms have been reported doing that.
The odds are strong that the above, or the associated wires are the problem due to the fact when you turn the headlights on the marker lights also receive power which changes the effective paths of the way the marker and signal lamps are illuminated.
But if you want to convert it to a toggle, have a Single Pole Single Throw toggle switch connect the red wire to the yellow wire.
You should retain the circuit breaker present in the original Pull For On light switch.
For brights use a Single Pole Double Throw toggle.
Connect the yellow wire located in the column to the common (center), the tan wire to one end terminal on the switch, then connect the light green wire located in the column to other end terminal on the toggle switch.

I think you're right in that its a wire, ground, or the switch itself.
Either way, MUCH appreciated with the info on how to put em on a switch, that will help in case I can't find the real issue
