Lost speedo and odo, now car isn't running right

Last week i was driving when i seen one of my gauges drop out of the corner of my eye. I looked and seen it was the speedometer. I wasn't too worried about it because i have a speedometer app on my phone, but now it has problems. Twice now it's died when i depressed the clutch. It fires back up fine when i let off and it bump starts itself, but last time i brought it home, it started jerking like it was dying and bump starting itself. I can only assume it's computer, but i'm not sure. Does anybody have any ideas of what it could be, or had this problem too? Any and all information would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

theVSS signal to the ECM(computer)stopped along with the speedo-the VSS is on the back of the speedo-your check engine light should be on when car is moving too.

No, no check engine light. I know the light works, but it's not on when i'm driving

My guess the issue is mechanical.

Sorry, now that I've read your post again I'm confused about what's not working, car or speedo.

For the most part, the car works. I've got no speedometer, or odometer, and it occasionally dies when I use the clutch. But it fires right back up if I turn the key, or let off the clutch

Well documented problems with no VSS input to the ECM as it as no way of knowing
what the car is doing

Re: Lost speedo and odo, now car isn't running right

I was planning on going carbbed later on down the road, but with these problems, may as well do it now. Already have a 350 for it, just gotta change the intake, get a carb, get a distributor, and a fuel pressure regulator. Then comes the fun of trying to figure out what to do electrically from there. But i'm sure there are plenty of posts here on just that.

Check the engine to chassis ground to the engine I took mine off and forgot to hook it back up and the car was missing and died then it would start up and run for a little but then die.
