Battery Drain Issue

I have a '91 Camaro RS which over the last ten years now I have replaced it with a new battery every year. There seems to be a constant drain on the battery. This car is not an everyday runner and is only a weekend toy. It takes roughly 3 weeks on a brand new battery if I don't start the car for it to be completely dead, If it's a battery thats been in there for a little while over the course of the year, Its seems that the battery will only last about 1-2 weeks before it's dead. I've been threw 10 batteries now over the last ten years and looking to get yet another one this weekend. I took the car a few years ago to a mechanic and I was told everything looked ok regarding the battery, Which I know that's a crock considering if it was I wouldn't have dead batteries every few weeks. Any suggestions or ideas?

Re: Battery Drain Issue

Anyone know anything on how to check this??? Does anyone know what a resting draw should be on this car with an aftermarket stereo?

Re: Battery Drain Issue

That helps greatly, Thanks! Does anyone know what would be an acceptable current draw on the battery in a resting state?

Sane Drain

With the car turned off the drain should be no more than 50 milliamps.

Happy Racing !
