91 camaro rs with 350swap vats problem

Ok so I know there are a few threads on here that deal with the vats problems with third gen camaros I've read most of them an there is so much Info to take in that it confuses me so I'm gonna post one and try to get a little incite I'll try to keep it as simple as possible so I have a 91 camaro rs with a 350 swap I lost my last key to the ignition with the resistor so I swapped the key lock cylinder so I could have keys that didn't have the chip on it with that said I have the new cylinder installed and when I turn the key on everything comes on including the heating and ac fan but the car will not turn over now comes the question I found a product on summitracing called painless performance vats computer chips and I'm wondering if this product will fix my problem or am I still gonna have to go under the dash and do a bypass and put the resistors in thanks in advance

The VATs module is located under the dashpad inside the dash. It is expecting a certian resistance from the key to enable the starter, regardless of the lock cylinder. Your no starts are because the new key has a different resistor than your old one. You have 3 options:

1: Have VATs programmed out of your ECM
2: Bypass VAT's using one of those nifty VATs bypass modules that you described
3: Getting the 15 different resistors, and testing each one, bypassing the key.
