hatch pull down wiring.
Can anyone tell me where the white wire goes that is bunched with the relay harness on the hatch pulldown motor? It is close to the blue power wire that hooks to the red/white. Its on an 88 firebird formula.
Thanks!
David.

On the 86's that White wire was used for the Rear Wiper System
Re: hatch pull down wiring.
White wire with the same connector as the blue power for the pulldown unit? That goes to the cargo area lighting. The bulb has a constant hot and that wire grounds when the hatch is open. Not used on all cars.

This white wire has the opposite plug as the blue (as it would pkug directly into the blue). My cargo light wiring is orange white. Is it possible the white plug plugs into the reverse hatch motor switch?
Re: hatch pull down wiring.
That's the one I was talking about. Do you have a manual switch for the light? Mine does but instead of the switch going to a ground, I wired it to the white wire. This way I could still have automatic function by opening the hatch and use the switch to have it not come on if I choose to leave the hatch open.

Prior to 1989 the white wire plugs into nothing. For model year 89 through 91 it plugs into a black with orange stripe wire to turn on and off the rear hatch light. Prior to that the hatch light was turned on with a manual switch.
In case you are wondering it is a switched ground that is controlled by the striker-sensing switch.
