1988 Camaro won't start.
I have a 1988 IROCZ Camaro that wont start.
i have had problems with the fuel pump but i had replaced it about 3 times now but the one i have in it now is working good, but when i go to start it it will just keep trying but nothing happens but if i spray starting fluid in the intake and turn the key it starts right up and stays on and i can drive it but once i turn it off it wont start again unless i spray it. i can hear the fuel pump come on and the relays click but im thinking for some reason its still not getting enough fuel pressure to the intake for some reason. someone please get back with me ASAP it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Yes I have troubleshot through all that my pump comes on fuse is good and so is the relay. But even at one point of having a full tank of gas it still wouldnt start by itself until i used starting fluid and once i did that it would start right up and stay on until i turned it off myself.

I have replaced all of the following with new parts. The Fuel pump, fuel pump relay, fuel filter, and the fuel pressure regulator. Also have replaced the distributor. So im not sure what could be causing it to not want to start until i use starting fluid just to get it running and driving.

all hoses are connected besides one on the back left side of the intake its a small one but i have it closed up. could a vacuum leak cause all of this? But even when i push the valve down on the fuel rail it just trickles out and before i had this problem if i did that the gas would shoot about 2ft in the air.

Re: 1988 Camaro won't start.
Does your 88 have the ninth injector? The ninth injector is used for startup enrichment. This is basically what you are doing when you spray start fluid into the intake to start the car. Your fuel pressure should maintain for a while but not for a long time, this is why your pump primes when you turn the key on. Spray fluid into the engine to get it running then check your fuel pressure with the engine running. If you have good pressure, check the ninth injector wiring to see if it is firing the injector. Search "cold start injector" for more information. HTH!

No i dont have the ninth injector on it. But i do remember getting a code 54 Which is low voltage at the fuel pump OR low voltage at the fuel pump relay OR output failure at quad driver module. I haven't had a chance to get my hands on something to test for the voltage though. but could you send a pic on where the ninth injector is located so i can check and make sure i know i don't but still want to eliminate that.
