steering column question!

I own a 1988 GTA . I am trying to install stock radio. A few years back I changed the steering column. I want the steering wheel controls to work with the radio. I believe back then I installed column that was not stock considering it didn't have vats system. Will the non stock column have the correct connections for the radio controls? Not sure what I am looking for! I have no power to wheel controls......Thanks for any help.

Re: steering column question!

I own a factory original 88 GTA WITH radio controls & WITHOUT VATS; sp yes; it is *possible* your replacement column has no VATS and has Radio control wiring,....

But; your "non-stock" column could have come from anything. There's no way any of us can tell you if it's got radio controls in it or not.... only you can see what plugs it's got sticking out of it !

FYI: The ONLY columns that have radio control wiring are columns from other Trans Am / GTAs that had factory equipped radio controls in the steering wheel. The radio wiring inside the column was only used with cars with that option from the factory. NO other column will have the radio wiring,.....

Re: steering column question!

Thanks for the reply. I see the wiring going up thru the column. I guess I will have to pull the steering wheel to if the connections are there.
