Distributors. Many questions..

Bought a 89' Formula a couple year ago with a locked up 350 TBI. With the assist from a couple buddies, I've been slowly building a 383 for it. Well, I'm starting to get serious about it, and I am at the point of picking a distributor.

At this point, I have been recommended 2 different MSD distributors. The 8365 and the 8394. I can get the GM version of the 8365 for $340 but one of my buddies isn't certain that being it's a big cap design, that it will clear the firewall; he is recommending the 8394, which is $90 more and I would also need a coil.

Are you guys having fitment issues with large cap distributors? I really don't want to spend an extra $140 if I don't have to.

Assuming you are going carb.

Honestly any HEI with a vacuum advance will work fine. I know people with the large cap fitting just fine with a carb in a thirdgen.

This will suit your needs

Your assumption is correct, sir; it is being converted to a carb.

You have been ridiculously helpful!

No problem, enjoy the build. You can also get the MSD streetfire HEI if you really want to stick with MSD. They are about $140
