I'd love to add the rear wiper to my 83 Firebird but want to do a full factory install.

What parts do I need? Dash switch, dash bezel with appropriate holes, rear hatch deck with wiper assembly, inside deck plastic trim, lower trim with power connection pad... is that it?

What parts are NOT the same as the Camaro setup? I know the dash switch and trim would be. The decklid may be depending on spoiler option but that's fixable.

Personally, I think the wiper is one ugly beast (one that I've never used in the entire time I've owned the car). That said, each to his own. Best wishes on locating the info you need.

I've read about 4 pages of threads I've found from searching here on the forum and there just isn't much more info other than people asking "Is it rare?" "Is it stock?" etc. haha

I need it for practicality reasons. I daily drive the car and winter driving would be SO much better with a rear wiper!

There is little info/pics on the Camaros... but the Firebirds? Nothing! Having a real hard time just finding a PICTURE of the damn dash switch!

 

I have one on my Camaro. It's the ugliest thing on the planet but I use it almost every day in the winter. It works very well.

If need any pictures of the Camaro stuff I can take some for you.

Any of the components besides the dash I could use photos of really! Good to see where everything mounts, like the pump.

 

Ive been acquainted with these cars for over 30 years. You are the first person Ive ever heard ask for the wiper. I'm speechless...
I do believe you will have to also change out the rear hatch struts as well. Dont ask me why, but Ive seen them on ebay from 1a auto......here is a link

Heh, yeah, I love the oddball options. And since I daily the car year round the rear wiper would actually come in handy.

Now, that lower power pad that it contacts for power... was that used for other options on the hatch as well? I swear I've seen those before in person but never the wiper. EDIT: Duh, the 88-90 Iroc third brake light.
