Another interesting fan problem

I am using the stock 1987 (new) relay for the fan on the left side.

When I start the car in the morning the fan comes on right away.

I have replaced the CTS, I have changed the ECM, I have changed the memcal

The prom is programed to come on at 190 off at 186.

I have checked the wire for shorts, there are none.

I turn the key on and have 12 volts at the relay but the fan doesn't start until I start the motor.

I am lost on this one.

Anyone have some input?

Re: Another interesting fan problem

My only question would be ;

Could it be a failure in the heat/ac control ?

I know my fan will come on at any engine temp if I put the control to "Max AC" . If I leave the control in the Max AC position and shut the car off , the next day when I start it stone cold the fan comes right on as well .

Re: Another interesting fan problem

Turns out it was just a matter of clicking the right box in the chip program.

It can be normally open or normally closed in the fan control area.

I had it wrong.
