1988 firebird headlight funkyness

Hello, I just started up my car and one head light wouldnt go up ? So I flicked the switch a few times and got it moving a little way then giving up. Eventually it went up and I thought great untill I walked around the car ( hood was up) and realised the other side wasnt up, so the problem jumped !? They both went down fine. Im guessing its a central problem with something but where do I start ?

May need to rebuild the motor that raises the light. I had the same issue a couple of years ago. I bought a rebuild kit off eBay.

Thanks ill look, although im not sure it is because up till now theve both been fast up/down and worked awesome.

yeah so did mine. If you have a test light power them on and unplug the connector to the motor, see if its getting power, if so, its the motor.

well, its nice out so i went out to have a look, took 3mins im sure i used to be able to raise the lights manualy but i cant raise either light manually any more like the gearings knackered.
cant believe they both would go at the same time wtf!?!?!

Unfortunately you waited a bit too long to do the repair. Now a one person job has become a two person job. Have someone push the headlight switch on/off while you shake and bang on the headlight door with your fist. It will eventually come up suddenly. Then you'll be able to do the headlight repair.
