Injectors on engine off.
My Fuel injectors on my 88 5.0 TPI firebird are always running constantly with the key on and engine off. It's causing my engine to flood. I don't know where to start.

Re: Injectors on engine off.
My thought here is that your new ICM has malfunctioned in such a way that it's got the ECM thinking the engine is running when it actually is not . The ECM knows to keep the pump on and when to spray the fuel from a signal the ICM sends it when the distributor is turning . If what your describing is what I think it is , this is the first time ever I've heard of an ICM malfunctioning in that way . Of course with electronics we "never say never" and even though by far the most common failure of an ICM is simply to make no spark , there is nothing ironclad that says it couldn't malfunction in the way I suspect yours might have . To test this I would unplug the ICM and if the pump and injectors are now stopped with the key on then I'd get that ICM back to where it came from for an exchange , provided your grounds all check out as previously suggested .....

I checked my ground connections just like you mentioned and everything looked good. I pulled the ICM off as soon as I got home from school and the problem with my fuel injectors and fuel pump constantly running went away! So I ran over to the parts store, explained to the guys my situation. I got the impression that they thought I was crazy but they gave me a new ICM anyways. I plugged it in, turned the key on, and bam! My problem was gone! My car started right up after I had to unflood my cylinders of all the gas that stayed in there.
Thank you guys so much.

Oh , and , an oil change might be a good idea right about now , seeing how all that extra fuel leaked past the rings into the oil , and loosened all kinds of crud that's now in the oil filter .... Thread Starter

At this point I'm pissed off. Could I be unlucky and have gotten two bad modules? Is there any way I can test the module with an Ohms meter? My grounds look fine.
I found a half chewed up but still good spark plug wire so could this cause the problem?
