Interior courtesy lights

Iv been looking everywhere for the colors of the two wires that connect into the passenger side courtesy light switch when the door is open. I have a white wire thats hanging down but I don't have another to hook up to the door switch. So I know one color but unsure of the other. If someone could snap a shot of the colors and bonus points if they can tell me or snap a shot of where that other wire is routed so I could find it or rewire that would be awesome.

Re: Interior courtesy lights

The passenger's door uses a single wire pin switch, it grounds when the door is opened. The dome lights are powered full time hot, any place the white wire is grounded completes the circuit and turns on the ctsy light.

The foot well courtesy light sockets should have two wires.

Orange/White = 12v (hot all the time)
White = Door jam switch

Note that the orange wire has a trace that's not referenced on the schematic that's in the FSM.

The orange/white wire originates at a two cavity connector near left side of the steering column.

The circuit operates as Drew has described.

Re: Interior courtesy lights

I was wondering about the switch, this is the drivers side with two wires.
Do I connect the white wire to any part of the metal end?

Pretty much... The driver's side has a second wire for the "Yo driver, where you goin!" warning buzzer, keys in the ignition, headlights on, etc.

Your pin switch is broken. It should have a male spade terminal tab coming off the end. If you can wave a soldering iron without putting an eye out, I'd clean up the brass and stick a new tab on it. If you're not really comfortable with soldering, junkyard or classifieds.

Replacement door jamb switches (Delco) are available from Rock Auto.
