Pulled the dash pad to replace the missing speakers and there are three extra cut wires on the pass side of the speaker hole (right in photo).
Any ideas what they are for and what should I do with them?
You could track them and see where they lead. Or just isolate them individually and wrap any exposed wire in electrical tape or crimp on caps so they don't ground out.
Yeah good call. Was hoping someone who knows more about the harness than me would know what they were for... I know every wire on a first gen but this is new to me.
If the connector was still there, you'd have a fighting chance. GM used the same color wires in some cases, and from the photo I can't really tell what color the wires are. Could be something pulled up from under the dash, or wires for something that's not there anymore. The last 4 thirdgens I've bought have had a bunch of accessory wiring for aftermarket hardware that had since been removed. A lot of the time people will leave wires behind rather than disassembling to strip it out.
Have you got a weird antenna? White, green, and gray are the colors used for the motor on the power antenna. I ask if it's "weird" as in is it a power antenna that doesn't work or some kind of aftermarket replacement? If that's what it is, there'd be either a relay at the end, or an antenna...
A lot of times, people cut the wires to the power antenna and remove it when it stops working. If you follow the wires back to the passenger's side of the dash, there's a connector unplugs from the relay.
Power antennae wires? Check the RPOs in your glove box. I bet your car came with one, and that ill-fitting solid mast is an aftermarket replacement for a failed power unit. You'll notice photos in all these posts (links below) of the power antennae wiring...3 wires, grey, white, green I believe.
If that's what they are, those probably ran to the relay, shown mounted to the dash in the second photo of the first link below. It's the little item third form the left of the items with arrows pointing to them.
