Wiring switch to radiator fan

i have a 92 bird with the 3.1. Trying to wire a switch to the fan and because the fan comes on 225 and i want it to come on earlier. I cant seem to wire it directly to the relay for the fan to come on. Any suggestions?

You must be wiring it wrong. I don't have schematics for your car but the relay might be switch to ground.

In that case, are you sure you are on the correct relay?

Sounds like all you really need are the schematics and you are good to go. Guessing you have access to that at work.

Yes, i have the correct relay because i just changed it last month because the fan wasnt working. I think its something with the fan because connecting a direct current should make the fan kick on.

Re: Wiring switch to radiator fan

The green with white stripe wire to the fan relay gets grounded, tripping the relay and turning on the fan. You can make that happen in a number of ways
providing that THE FAN WORKS

That is, grounding the wire with the key on will actuate the fan IF all other wiring is intact

Wire Mire

On the fan relay there is a dark green wire with a White stripe.

Connect a wire to that point and run it to a switch in the cockpit.

Connect the other side of the switch to ground.

If that doesn’t fix it the PO probably altered the wiring, in that case you can let us know.

Happy Racing !

Re: Wiring switch to radiator fan

Here is my setup. Not perfect but functional. Splices into green/ white, then goes in trough firewall, then switch, and then back into firewall, then into that grounded bolt. Not sure if that's a good ground, but it works.
