Stock or not?

Per usual, I've got some wires going to nowhere. 85 Trans Am, wires are larger gauge and appear to go straight from the battery, through the firewall on the left and right, all the way to the back of the car where one disappears on one side and the other leads to absolutely nothing. They're red and green at the battery, and are both fused for 20A inline. Are they stock, and what is their purpose?

Re: Stock or not?

Of course that's not stock factory wiring . Anytime you see those "car audio" type fuseholders and the crappy yellow "butt splices" (hey , the manufacturer's name for then , not mine !) you can be sure your dealing with someone's home made hackery ......

Re: Stock or not?

Yup... those fuseholder are definitely not factory.

The wires they are in however, could be factory, esp the orange one. The red one, probably not. Hard to tell from the pic since we can't see where they go or any of that.

Re: Stock or not?

It's not orange, the flash made it look that way. It was red. Either way, both of those wires went directly from the battery to the trunk and connected to absolutely nothing. I have since removed them and just wanted to check. Thanks guys.

Re: Stock or not?

Probably. It was accompanied by a softball sized lump of speaker wire behind the trunk interior panels, no surprise there.

Re: Stock or not?

Sofa's Rule of Wire:

1. If one end isn't hooked up, it isn't doing anything.
2. If one end isn't doing anything, the other end isn't doing anything either.
3. If neither end isn't doing anything, then all that stuff in the middle isn't either.
4. YOINK!!!!

Re: Stock or not?

Good rule. If I apply it to my car, I can ditch about half the wiring
