Headlights flicking

I need help with my headlight fusible link. I have a 92 camaro rs and when I have been running with my headlights on for a little bit they start to flicker. Any suggestions on where to start.

Sounds like the circuit breaker built into your headlight switch is giving up the ghost. But that's just an educated guess. A fusible link will go up in smoke, and you lose all power. Working for awhile then flickering and going out is a heat issue.

I be changed that headlight switch 3 times and all did it. But I guarantee it is a heat problem because it last a lot longer if I don't turn my heat on and ride with the windows down(being that it's cold here). Is it possible that it' not grounded correctly or that I have a grommet in the wire.

No and no.

If the new breaker is giving the same problem the cause can be non-stock headlights.

Happy Racing !

Re: Headlights flicking

The headlight Ground wires are bolted to the radiator support on each side of the radiator using a 10mm bolt/screw. Loosen them up and re-torque,..... then check operation once again. With any luck you'll maybe spot a weak wire or a little surface rust and can resolve the problem quick and easy !

Re: Headlights flicking

had this exact issue and it was the switch overheating, ended up installing 2 relays, one for high and one for low beam, and using the wiring from the switch as the trigger and running a dedicated battery power to the relay. resolved the issue entirely.
