What is this thing?

Found above the headlight switch control. It has two black wires going to it, but doesn't appear to be a switch. Anyone know what this is?

Looks non-factory. Probably a pushbutton switch, maybe an indicator light.

Follow the wires, that'll give you a clue.

Believe it or not that is the factory light that lights up the switch assembly .

Huh, a light definitely wasn't my first guess. It's just a piece of plastic, doesn't seem like it has a lens. One more thing to get working, thanks guys!

If you look carefully you can see the very thin orange strip that shines the light down on to the switch when the dash lights are on . It's supposed to be replaced as a non serviceable unit (they don't intend you to change just the bulb) .
