At a loss of Words.
Ok yall, I have my 88 Firebird that I've converted from TBI to Carburetor. Now it all started about two weeks ago after my dad and I changed the Oil Pump. We lifted the engine with a floor jack and slowly lifted the engine off of its mounts to clear the oil pan for clearance. Well while we were lifting the engine, a part of the main harness got a bit snagged inbetween the trans tunnel and bell housing. It was crushed or even pinched. Now fast forward.... we got the pump in and stuff.... go to fire it up and i didn't have spark to the new distributor we just bought. The 12v ign wire that i was using before didn't have any power to it anymore with or without the key on. So i searched for another active wire (using some of the old TBI wires) and found one and she fired up fine.... for one day. It took me to work and back no problem. The next day I was leaving my house and the car was running fine and I went WOT and the car died. Like everything shut off. Well I had melted the positive battery cable at the post off. I replaced the starter and that positive cable. So the next day I took her out for a cruise and she was running fine, and then just shut off. I tried to start the car again and all it would do is crank. It started a couple of times and then would shut off. So there me and my dad go again towing it home. I exchanged the distributor for another new one, and she started up just fine, and then shut off on its own again last night. So my dad and I are at a loss of words. We've replaced the Ignition Switch, Starter, Distributor, Alternator, Battery is charged and in good condition, the fuel pump and the fuel filter. I also swapped back to my original carb that I know was running fine before i took it off. All of the fuses and fusible links are good too. So if yall could help me please I would really appreciate it.

That really sucks. What is the state of the part of the harness that was pinched? Can you post up some pictures of everything?

Re: At a loss of Words.
there’s really nothing wrong with it. Just the black conduit on the outside cracked a bit but the rest is fine. I found out that the wire that I was using a 12v ign wire to power up the distributor had lost power to it. So I found another old TBI wire with power to it and it started......then died again like 3 mins later on it own. So I don’t know at this point

Have you tried to hotwire ignition power with a fused toggle switch or something? Just make a whole new power lead as a control.
