Just curious, why would you want to toggle your brake lights?

piece of cake man...all you have to do is take a probe and find the brake power wire in the drivers kick panel and cut it..run a couple wires up to your switch and ur done. late night law enforcement evasion

Or splice a switch into the brake switch at, where else?.... the brake pedal.

I, too, am curious for the need of this.

kidtransam has the reason. cops will pull you if they see you hit your break when you think you're about to be caught speeding. you could slow down without being suspicious.

However what i said was a simple comment not implying that you were going to do that. And you shouldn't be so quick to jump down my throat being that putting a toggle switch on your rear brake lights is illegal and basically could be used for nothing but illegal purposes. I.E. Evading arrest.

Remember that movie?? what was it called....

EDIT: NECESSARY ROUGHNESS! Good flick.

If you look hard enough you can probably find a switch designed for this. I've seen one in a catalog before and I'm 90% sure that it was J.C. Whitney, but I might be wrong. It might have been in a catalog for law enforcement equipment like Galls. I have seen this before somewhere though.

You dont need to go around looking for a switch. Just go buy a $2 toggle switch at your local parts store. Locate the switch at the top of the brake pedal. Using a test light or meter, find the one that is ALWAYS hot. Cut it and wire the switch into it.

While you are at it, find the brown wire that runs behind the driver kick panel. This feeds 12V to the parking lamps and tail lamps. Wire a second toggle for this, or even the same toggle switch as before. Now you can have NOTHING but the headlights on.

Make sure you use a toggle switch with the proper amp rating.

Make sure you let us know which police auction your car will be at.
