LED Headlight Harness Questions

On my 83 Camaro I want to convert the headlights to LEDs, preferably the Vision X Vortex 4 x 6 or the Trucklite 4 x 6. How would I get it so in low beam mode, all 4 are on in low beam mode and in high beam mode all 4 are on as well? If I go with the Vision X lights, they have high and low in one unit as well as a halo that I would like to hook up to the marker lights (first click of the headlight switch) and would like to run all 4 headlights on in both high and low. Would I have to have a custom harness made or does a product exist that I can plug and play with?

You'll have to re-wire it with relays. There is a kit that most people buy to do this, it plugs into the existing sockets and wiring and only requires you to run a power wire. I bought mine on Summit years ago but I can't remember which one it was. Do a quick search of these boards and you should get the answer. Alternatively if you understand wiring schematics you could build your own setup at the cost of a few wires and two relays.

Here it is although it appears that Summit doesn't sell it anymore: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/GRM-01-133/

Also you should read this how to since it shows how to wire them without a kit: https://www.thirdgen.org/headlightupgrade/

Re: LED Headlight Harness Questions

Making the harness would not be hard, but getting the proper 59 series Packard terminals is a little difficult. American Autowire sells them, but they are kind if expensive from them. I found the "single wire" terminals, but you really need the dual wire terminals since you would be putting them all in series and have to double up the wire in each terminal to go to the next one. Factory wire size for the headlight harness is 16 gauge too, don't skimp on this if you do build your own, you may even consider going up to 14 since having 4 LEDs burning at once is going to be a considerable current draw
