engine stopped
Re: engine stopped
I went to find the fusible links --thought i would try to start it -- the car sat overnight --turned the key started right up. --while it was running turned the head lites on-- same thing everything went dead ---will a fusible link work after it sits for awhile?

Re: engine stopped
Usually a fusable link is one and done. There shouldn't be any auto auto resetting breakers in these cars that would lead to that behavior.
Rust on the connections can get real hot under the load of the headlights and cause it not to conduct until it cools off so I would check the terminal at the starter and the little wiring block behind the battery.
But the best thing to do is go buy a $5 test light at the local discount tool place and see what doesn't have power that should after the headlight event.
