Re: fusible links

There are no fusible links for the headlights or alternator, at least not according to the factory manuals

Re: fusible links

Check that the main ground connection from the battery to the engine is not broken or corroded.

Re: fusible links

OK, I was wrong somewhat wrong on the headlight circuit. There is a fusible link for the hot feed circuit, but it also feeds other devices on the circuit, it isn't dedicated to the headlights. That is at the starter and feeds into cavity G5 in the C100 bulkhead. I was wrong about the alternator, that shows the link is at the end that is connected to the starter solenoid connection where the other hot feeds are

There is a circuit breaker inside the headlight switch, it may be the switch has failed.

Re: fusible links

Nothing should shut off power to everything else except if 12+ can not return to ground with enough current...

I see this when smaller ground connections are returning 12+ (when there is a low current draw)

However usually the main ground or a large ground strap is disrupted (high current draw can not pass through the resistance of the smaller grounds).

I don't think that is factory, but I could be wrong...

Start at the battery, make sure terminals are clean and tightened down. Make sure battery is @ 12+ volts (12.4~12.8)
Check battery cable at the starter. Check ground on block. Those are the primary leads of power to everything in the car. .
