Led tailights
So i have an 88 gta with digital dash and the dic ..driver info center.
i ordered superbrightleds for the entire car. I also have the tail light sequencer that was
made by someone on this forum. When I first turned on the car I got the f lamp error
so I installed a load resistor on each front blinker. So as long as I don’t have my tail lights on
I have no issues, as soon as I turn on the lights and touch either the brake or use
the blinker I get a r lamp error . I installed loads resistors on all 6 tail lights and blinkers
(major pita!) still get r lamp error..... idk what to do now......

Re: Led tailights
I use Pilot LED bulbs, and installed properly sized rectifier diodes on all my lights. Works like factory and haven't had a problem since. Resistors didn't work for me either.

Re: Led tailights
I don't know whether you'll be able to use LEDs without getting the lamp error. I would suggest possibly trying CAN BUS LEDs. The factory system has a second set of wires to monitor the resistance. When the lamp goes out the filament is usually open and would change the resistance for the monitor.

Re: Led tailights
Thought of trying can bus leds
isk much about loads/resistance or diodes so I’m kinda at a loss as to what to do next ... lol prolly just go back to bulbs

Re: Led tailights
Also I took a couple readings with a multimeter on 20 volts
reg 1157 bulb No tail light on 0.02. Taillight on brake 15.80
led 1157 light. No taillight on 0.65. Taillight on brake 16.22
these readings were taken off the 2 wires that report to the DIC off the taillight socket

Re: Led tailights
You could try adding a resistor inline to reduce the voltage for the DIC monitor, or to get the resistance closer to the incandescent bulb. You will have to measure the resistance though and figure out what the value of resistor to put in the circuit

Re: Led tailights
Yeah I ended up replacing the rear light panel with 1157’s
just frustrating seeing how those leds pop with the brake/blinker
