Hi,
I have searched this subject to no end with no answer. I did find a post on a Camaro site that tried to explain it, however the connector they speak of is not in my car, that I can find.
Here is what I did, removed the carb for Holley Sniper system. In doing so, it isolated the ecm. From that point on, I had no Cruise control. Fast forward to actually removing the ecm and all its wiring, I then lost the speedo. The VSS module gets it ground from the connection to the ecm. I re-established a ground on the VSS and the speedo works. There were three cables coming from the ecu. Two main connectors that go the harness to the engine bay and a cable coming from two connectors, where the wires go up up under the dash. One of those connectors had a ground wire that was not grounded. I grounded the VSS ground and plug ground to a chassis bolt.
Still no cruise. Attached photo show the the two items under the passenger side of the car, and how I grounded them. (1987 Formula 305 engine)
I would appreciate any help you can give me. I am sure I am not the only that had this problem.
ECM doesn't control the cruise. The CC module depends on the signal from the yellow buffer box. My CC works with my stand-alone (LINK) and I am using an SGI-5E to control the various vss signals with the yellow buffer box deleted.
