Re: Electronic cruise control
Start by getting the wiring diagram and see if the signals might match up with what's available in your car.
Re: Electronic cruise control
I don't know what is required to do what you suggest. I need help hooking one of these type of cruise control modules to a swap in my hot rod using a TPI/700R4 with the 7730 ECM. I'm told I have to find a v8 unit off a GM truck between 95 and 2000. 4 cyl and v6 I'm told, won't work. Somebody must have done this somewhere, but I'm having difficulty locating the proper article. Sorry for the lack of knowledge. The bone yards have what I need for about $30 non refundable, that's why I need to get the right one. I don't have the budget to get an aftermarket one worth $250.

Re: Electronic cruise control
You answered your own question to get one from a late nineties pickup with v8. They are real easy to wire up using diagrams on this site. Search under ls swaps because they use the same units in their swaps. I believe you can go up to 2002 gm trucks though?? I used one from a 98 camaro as the throttle cable is twice as long so I could route it behind inner fender. So thats an option if you want it hidden.

Re: Electronic cruise control
No problem if going with the camaro/firebird it has to be from a 98 only the other years wont work for swaps
Re: Electronic cruise control
That's a great tip about the 98 f-body being the only one that works, other than trucks. Maybe I'm dense, but I spent short of 10 hours searching forums like TGO, LS1, Hotrodders and others and found bits and pieces, but not one article explained how to do the conversion from start to finish. The majority were incomplete and no proof of the conversion working. As a matter of fact a lot of peeps reported failure. There must be functional differences between these similar looking modules, because 4 cyl, 6 cyl and v8 have their own code like AY, RA, RU and so on.
2knight - Between your input and my research I'm going to attempt to get one working. I have a Fiero that had vacuum cruise originally with the TPI/4-sp and a 36 Chev with the TPI/700R4 and a GM column. Both use the 7730 ecm. I hope I can come back with a successful outcome. Thank you.

Re: Electronic cruise control
I spent hours searching, but not at 67-72 chevy trucks forum. That article is very informative and well documented by all. Special thanks goes to Ls1nova71. And thank you 2knight for sticking by me.
