Vats?

My 93 Camaro will turn over and run for about 2 seconds and shut off. What is causing this and what is the vats security system? Can I just buy a replacement ignition with a key?

This will help give you a basic understanding how VATS works in our 3rd gen cars. The subject matter in the link is how to defeat VATS but it has a decent explanation how it works.

There was a different next generation of VATS sometime close to your model year and I'm not sure exactly when that happened or how it works.

@Eric Brown this site (ThirdGen.org) is dedicated to the Third Generation (1982-1992) F-Body (Camaro and Firebird) and does not cover your 4th Generation Camaro.
