Double din radio issues
hello all!
Well last fall my fairly new double din Android radio was acting up. When I started the car the radio starts playing for a few second, then cuts out. I played with it a bit but no success. Being its a cheap radio i got off ebay a year ago or so I figure I would just get another one. Well new one install SAME issue. So what would cause a radio to cut out like this. I power it on, sound comes up briefly and then nothing. Its there an internal amp on these cars and is mine going bad?

Re: Double din radio issues
Come to the conclusion my UQ7 sub is bad. Anyone have one or can these be refurbished at all? Any other option? bad enough I have to fix scratches from a storm AGAIN. Now no radio, and here comes summer.

Bumb
Any help with this would be appreciated. I have searched around this site and others with not much success. Radio and speaker setups are not something I am very good at. So the factor AMP I believe is the problem. Is there a way to replace it with something similar? Or can it be rebuilt? No radio in this car with summer coming on would really suck.

Re: Double din radio issues
OK I got to the part where 12 volts need to be ran from the battery to power the AMP. Mainly because most aftermarket head units cant supply enough power. I guess I got luck with the first head unit I installed a year ago, but the AMP finally gave up. I know it works, so running a positive feed form the battery to the stock AMP is the solution. I have a feed already for the back speaker system I added many years ago for additional sound.
So what wire on the UQ7 factory AMP do I add power from the battery too? What color is it? Does it require a wire from the battery direct and if so what gauge size? Can I instead just run a jumper from the fuse block to the amp instead?
Again would really appreciate some help, thanks!

Re: Double din radio issues
Well for anyone interested I fixed the issue. basically I used the lousy crimp style connectors between the radio harness to adapt to the GM style female harness. Once I cut it all out I SOLDERED the connection and BOOM I have radio.

Re: Double din radio issues
Glad to hear you resolved the issues. So both radios work, and everything else is working correctly, including subs and amp? No doubt you're grateful for all of the help you received here on TGO!

HAHA, good one!! As far as the factory AMP and new replacement factory speakers yes. Years ago I put in a kicker box and a HiFonics Pluto VII AMP. The kicker has 2 10" speakers and its loud I am working on that now. Would be nice to get this going again.

Re: Double din radio issues
Got the Pluto fired up now too. Just one of the 10" speakers is not working. Bought it new 2 years ago, I believe its just a loose connection. Making further headway. At least I will have tunes this summer!

Re: Double din radio issues
Heads up the radio issue is back, sound than no sound. Sit over night with the battery disconnected and same thing. Has to be the internal factory amp. Going to run separately speaker wire to each speaker and bypass the factory harness. I am done trying to figure it out.
