Heat Soaked Starter stock 305?

Hey all,

I believe I have experienced my first heat soaked starter incident.

I've read of this happening before, however in most cases I thought it only related to headers.

I've got a mostly stock 305 with a magnaflow catback.

Yesterday, after thinking I fixed one problem, another one smacks me in the face.

It was about 90 degrees, I was driving for a little over a half hour, car got up to around 220 at it's hottest, according to the gauge anyways.

I go into a 7/11 to buy a beverage, I go back to my car... Turn the key... And... Nothing.

Nothing.

No click no attempt to start at all. Well I realized what it was pretty quick. Ended up walking about 2 miles to my house, and drove back with some jumper cables just in case.

Naturally by the time I got back to the car, it started right up.

Sounds like a heat soaked starter right?

I never want to experience this again, so I am looking to upgrade the starter. I heard the LT1 starters are a good place to go. Does anyone have a direct fit replacement suggestion for a 305/T5, Camaro?

Thanks!

Probably not "heat soak". Probably just retirement.

Order one for like a 97 Camaro V8. Pretty sure the one for like a 99 5.7 truck would work too. Maybe check and see which one is cheeeeeeepest.

You'll probably need different bolts. DO NOT try to use generic bolts. If your existing ones won't work, get the right ones.

Alright, so this one would work for me? Bolts are cheap enough so I will get those with the starter.
