Firebird style taillights left side brake not working

I rewired my Camaro to mimic the Firebird taillights. Basically instead of the wire going from the brake switch to the tailights, it goes to the turn signal switch. Everthing works as it should. But if the lever is pushed down like after cancelling a right turn, the left lights don't light when the brake is depressed. The lever has 1/4" play. If I move it back up that 1/4", brake lights work again. Before I tear down the column again, is there any adjustment or do I just need a new switch?
