Missing fuel pump fuse
HI all,
I have 86 irocz, and I am beginning to have problems with the fuel pump. As I check fuse box, I come to find out that the fuel pump fuse (10A) is missing. A new fuse does not even stay on the socket. Is this a normal finding in this year car? The manual says it should have a fuse on that location.
Thanks for any advice!

Re: Missing fuel pump fuse
To combat fuel boiling, later carbureted cars had a low pressure fuel pump in the tank to feed the mechanical pump.

Re: Missing fuel pump fuse
So it is likely that my car has the low pressure pump in the tank as well as the mechanical correct?
i disconnected the fuse, i guess, to depressurize the system, but the car turn on and stayed running…never shut off.

Re: Missing fuel pump fuse
The mechanical pump was still doing it's job, the car can still function without the "uplift" pump working as long as the mechanical pump is still sucking and pushing fuel.

Re: Missing fuel pump fuse
Just more of an after thought (something that most Auto Manufacturers do often).

Sometimes these after thoughts end up making nice accessories like this:
Now anytime someone wants to add one SEALED Fused Circuit for an Accessory (Fog Lamps, Electric Fan, Etc)...
With the Parts above (up to 40A) it is easy enough to do.
Not to mention, Parts like these are also produced for a Sealed Relay as well.
I personally offer Parts similar to those above, for SEALED Circuits up to 60A (Maxi-Fuse):
And for Relays up to 60A:

Re: Missing fuel pump fuse
the '86 LG4 may not have come from the factory with the in-tank helper pump. if it did it should have used the fuel pump fuse in the panel under the drivers hush panel
an in tank helper could have been installed later, possibly by a dealer, to combat fuel starvation issues associated with heat soak
either way, best way to check that one is there and functioning is to find the fuel pump relay, jump it out and look for fuel flow from the 3/8" fuel hose that connects to the block mounted fuel pump. just release it from the pump and point it into a handy container for a few.

Re: Missing fuel pump fuse
Thank you! I will do for sure.
One of the issue is that, as i develop a problem with the pump, i realized the mechanic never installed an in line fuel filter when swapped to a holley carb and 350. I wonder is that’s why i am having problem now although the pump seems to be original and old. Any advice?
