Gauge lighting dimmer issue.

My gauges lighting would not turn off. I replaced the headlight switch and same issue. After digging through wiring I disconnected my Radio, then I tried the dimmer then and it worked perfectly fine and lights would dim, but once the orange/yellow pigtail is connected all I get is solid gauge lighting that will not dim. Any suggestion’s or thing’s to try?

I'm sorry... you have been on the Forum since 2007 and have almost 900 Posts...

YET, you still don't know to Post whether you have a Camaro or a Firebird; and what the Model-Year is???

Apology accepted. My profile used to say my vehicle stat’s. I have not been on here in a long time. It is on an 87 Camaro.

Re: Gauge lighting dimmer issue.

Thank you.

On the Camaros, the Headlamp Switch (Dimmer/ Variable-Resistor Built-In) uses a 12AWG or 10AWG Black (Chassis Ground) Wire...
For the Dimming Function to operate.

I would start by making certain that the Black Wire has a very good connection to the Chassis Ground.
It may be an Open-Circuit, Loose or Corroded Connection, Etc.

Reply back after you have checked this (Hopefully you have a Multi-Meter to make this an easy/ quick task).
