‘Burnt’ wires

Hello all,

My question to you is does this section of my harness need to be cut out and replaced, or can I tape them up and put new wire loom in place and be fine? Guessing it was shorting out on the header or back of the head.

It’s my crank sensor harness. Car started running weird and tracked this down. All I can find.

edit, just tried cranking and starting the car with the sensor unplugged and it would not fire. It’s a 5.3 gen III swap. Started running like a miss and down on power. Wondering if the signal could be have been weak/poor enough because of the exposed wire on the headers?

I can wrap them up and do a test drive. Unfortunately of course it’s raining and the car doesn’t have wipers..

thanks!
Jake

Yep I'd just tape them up good and loom over them and keep away from heat should be good to go.

No change in run status. Will have to pull valve covers or look elsewhere and dig in. Thanks for the input. Can close thread down if needed/want.

Re: ‘Burnt’ wires

Yellow wire is toast. Green wire probably is toast. I can't tell condition of blue. Replace all three. The wire will corrode badly once it burns to the point it is exposed like that. There is no saving it.

Those wires need to be replaced before you do anything else
