what stereo wiring harness?

i have an 86 iroc, in which im going to install a pioneer 1200mp, as shown .
and i was curious if it still takes the stock wiring harness for(i have no harness in there at all). or if this one at my local auto parts store would work with it.
thanks for the help

Re: what stereo wiring harness?

Since your harness is missing, you have 2 options. You can either just wire the harness the radio comes with to new wires for BAT power and a switched 12V (the fuse block has ports for just that, they take a regular spade terminal) and run wires to your speakers and be done with it. Or you can go to a j/y or someplace and get a harness from a car and wire than in, then use the adapter plug (second pic you posted) and wire the radio harness to that.

This is the connector you need:

Metra 70-1677-1

--==EDIT==--

No harness at all?

Then you will need to add wires and you would need no adapter harness.

Re: what stereo wiring harness?

Those adapters are ment to plug into the stock harness and allow you to wire in the aftermarket decks harness. Since your stock harness isgone, thats not really an option unless you replace the stock harness. EAsiest thing would be to just run a new constant 12v and switched 12v to the decks harness and then wire in the speakers.

But a pic would tell us a lot at this point.

Re: what stereo wiring harness?

those sopts on the fuse block are for extra stuff (nice of GM to give us those huh?) the ones labeled BAT are constant, the ones labeled IGN are switched, the ones labeled RAD are switched and work with the key in ACC, and the ones labeled LMP are switched when the lights are on. If theres already wires running from those spots to the stereo area, chances are someone had them hooked into the radio. The red wire is usually the switched 12v and the yellow is usually the constant.
