sensor, sos(check engine lt) differences

sensor, sos(check engine lt) differences
I figure I should post this here as well...
I am currently swapping the TPI 383 in my car. The only questionalble part I have left is the VSS sensor and the SOS (check engine) light. I am swapping an 89 harness into an 82 camaro that had the CCC electronic q-jet in it originally.
Is the VSS the same between 82 and 89? Is the circuitry behind the guages the same for the VSS? I guess the proper question would be will the 82 VSS feed the 89 ecm with the proper signals?
Second, is the SOS (check engine) light the same in circuitry as an 89 car? The reason I am concerned about this, is because The 82's SOS light stays on with no computer plugged in(on the original harness, only when the ignition is on) Therefore I suspect that the 82's computer tells the light to turn off. In looking at the 89 wiring diagram, It looks like the ecm tells the light to turn on. I need to find this out before I plug the new ecm in, and fry the thing.
Can anyone tell me or suggest a proper source? I already know about the 85 wiring diagrams on the geocities page, but some minor things are different in pre 84 cars like mine. Anyone know where to get wiring diagrams for 82-83 cars?
