I have a 1987 IROC Z28, 305 engine with the computer controlled Rochester 4bbl carburetor. I attempted to start it and I don’t hear the fuel pump running. I do have spark. I found the inline fuse by the battery but I don’t know how to check it. I’m real good at breaking connectors. I disassembled it but I didn’t see anything that looked like a fuse. There is power to the fuse.
I looked at the fuse panel and found a slot labeled FP/IJN 2. But it was empty. I’m guessing it’s for the fuel injected cars. Didn’t find anything else labeled for the fuel pump.
Also, where is the fuel pump relay located? I’m really hoping that I don’t have to replace the pump in the tank.

car will start/run without the low pressure helper pump working-engine mounted pump will feed the carb.If the electric pump is not working,it will not block fuel flow-it is a turbine pump with no check valve.
I was always under the impression that the electric pump in the tank had to prime the mechanical pump in order for it to provide fuel to the carburetor. But first chance I get I’ll see if there’s fuel getting to the mechanical pump. It’s sure not feeding any to the carburetor. They’re about $25 USD for a new one.
