Fuel Pump Relay
Fuel Pump Relay
Hi everyone, I have an 82' Trans Am with the 4BBL carb and cannot locate the fuel pump relay for the life of me. I have checked near the battery, and on the firewall in the engine bay on the driver's side where it is supposed to be. It does appear that there are two separate connectors on the driver's side firewall plugged into one module, but that's it. Any help is appreciated thanks!

Re: Fuel Pump Relay
There isn't one. A factory carbureted '82 Trans Am has a mechanical fuel pump on the engine block.
Re: Fuel Pump Relay
Thank you so much. With that being said, is there a way to “cut power” to the mechanical one? I am trying to perform a compression test but have already removed intake manifold and carb. So when I go to crank the car to check for compression, fuel is just going to spray everywhere. Thanks!

Re: Fuel Pump Relay
Unbolt it from the block or unhook the fuel line from fuel tank and plug it so tank doesn't empty on your floor.
