Trunk release switch
Odd problem but my 84 will only pop the trunk with the ignition in the on position. Never had this problem before…any hints on what/where to look? Switch worked fine before. New switch installed and problem followed

Re: Trunk release switch
With an Automatic the hatch should not be able to open unless the car is in PARK or NEUTRAL; with a Manual it should only open if the E-Brake is pulled up/active. With Auto and PARK; the button should work fine and the hatch should POP regardless of key position, with Auto and NEUTRAL the Key would have to be turned to BULB TEST. These are the only times the hatch Solenoid should function.
Maybe there is a problem with the NSS,...... or Maybe you've got the wires hooked up wrong on the new button ??

Re: Trunk release switch
Thanks for the info. I did have the trans replaced a few months back while it was in the shop. It has a B@M shifter in it which needed some switches replaced as well. I’m guessing somewhere in there lies the problem.
