Hello everyone,
I've been trying to decipher the operation of the 82-84 delay wiper motors all day. This diagram doesn't make sense to me, and I'd love if one of you could either tell me the diagram's wrong, or tell me why I'm an idiot. In the DELAY position, the GRY wire feeds ground to the shunt coil of the motor. The PPL wire feeds ground to the park relay, which energizes it. The contacts cannot close however, because it states that the contacts are mechanically held open while the wipers are "parked" in their resting position. The pulse relay also cannot activate because the holding switch is holding those contacts open. It just doesn't seem like this circuit could even function at all. I know I have to probably be wrong, if this makes sense to someone please enlighten me! Thank you.
Re: Does this diagram make sense?? 82 Camaro Wipers
This is the only thing that would make sense to me. 2 wires not shown in the diagram. One that gives power to the timer, and one that the timer can use to send power to the windings. It would stop at the parked position because of the rest of the circuit. This probably isn't right but it's the idea. What do you guys think?
Re: Does this diagram make sense?? 82 Camaro Wipers
No answering any questions really,.. but wanted to clarify;
The diagram is marked as 82-84 but that's wrong. Your diagram is only accurate for the 82-83 Wiper system. Those years the wiper system used a completely different design than the 84-87 or the 88-92 Thirdgen Wiper systems. The 82-83 wiper motor is more similar (possibly the same? ) as a second gen wiper motor. The ENGINE bay and DASH harnesses must match the 82-83 wiper motor as well as the Steering Column due to non-compatibility with other wiper systems.
Re: Does this diagram make sense?? 82 Camaro Wipers
Yeah, the 82-83 design is unique. But it is the same as the 79-81. The motors and wiring design is the same. The switches are different but the motors are 79-83. Wiper wiring harness are 82-83 specific on the column. The pump is driven off a cam in the wiper motor. There is a conversion motor cover available to make the pump electric. For 79-83. This cover is plug and play. So you can look at older design (79-81)schematics as well for better understanding.
