Bye Bye power antenna
Swapped the whole antenna motor and all over a decade ago. Did the steel cable swap about 7ish years ago, worked great, then the internal switch went out so the options were either buy a replacement switch (discontinued, and pricey), or buy a replacement antenna (and eventually cable swap it again). So I just swapped the whole assembly for a fixed mast OEM unit. Props to Hawks for making the fender base.
Works like a charm. Saved all the power antenna specific pieces (relay, wiring, brackets, etc.) in case I change my mind in 20 years, but for now I prefer the simple. If anyone has questions on the process I thought I'd start a thread. Peace!

Re: Bye Bye power antenna
We been having bad luck with the Crown Automotive Jeep power antennas lately.
@Neil350 Has ran across the Power Antenna – Auto Pro ANT1007 he posted about in his thread. It's a bit pricy though but it says it has a New Improved Internal Design. I'd have to see this to justify the price. I was getting the Crowns for about 80 to 90 bucks.

Yeah that’s what I had read about crown too. Who knows though, parts have good runs and bad.

Re: Bye Bye power antenna
I tried two Crown replacements and both were problematic, so I gave up for a number of years and went to the manual mast. I bought the car with a very broken power antenna. I saw the ant-pro piece and tried it, worked like a charm. That said, a power antenna is kind of annoying, so I plan to put a toggle momentary to the relay power so I can turn it off. Primarily listen to tapes anyway, I just wanted the antenna to work for what ever reason that temporarily motivated me to do it.
