Starter help (im slow)

I am putting in a new starter for my 84 305 firebird, I have three wires, the ignition wire, and what seems to be a power and a ground wire. I can’t imagine the starter needs three wires but i remember taking three off. I just need help

The starter is grounded by its mounting to the block. Most likely what you have is the battery positive and fusible links, both got to the large stud on the solenoid

Yep, there's no ground wire. There's a purple wire that connects to the "S" terminal, and the positive battery cable plus two wires with fusible links that connect to the main power stud...
